Rhodium plated and Gold Plated?

RHODIUM PLATED

All silver pieces I make are Rhodium plated.

Rhodium plated means jewelry made from a base metal of gold, silver that is coated in a layer of rhodium for extra strength and luster. Jewelry plated in rhodium is shinier and more durable than other metals.

GOLD PLATED

Gold plated means jewelry made from a base metal of silver that is coated in a layer of gold to give it a gold jewelry look.

Jewelry care

How to care for pearls in jewelry?

To preserve your pearls' radiance:

avoid letting them come into contact with cosmetics, hair spray, or perfume. Always put on your jewelry as a final touch, after applying make-up and styling hair.

No contact with water:

When pearls get wet, the moisture can damage both the thread and the pearl itself. As the thread begins to stretch and lengthen, the pearls lose their shape. Furthermore, as the thread runs through the pearl, water can also cause internal damage, leading to the breakdown of the pearl's internal composition.

Avoid heat:

When we refer to ‘dry heat’ we mean hairdryers, curling tongs, or hair straighteners - anything that creates heat. So, ensure you style your hair before you put your pearls on, regardless of the pieces you’re wearing.

After each wear:

Wiping the pearls with a damp, soft cloth after you wear them will ensure that they remain free of harmful build-up of compounds that may damage the nacre of your pearls. Always keep your pearls separated from hard jewelry items such as rings or bracelets to prevent them from being scratched. Pearls are best kept in a soft-cloth pouch or a soft-lined jewelry box. Never store your pearls in an airtight environment such a a zip lock bag. Pearls are organic and do contain trace amounts of water. Storing them in an airtight environment will cause them to become brittle and damage the luster.

With pearl necklaces, it’s essential that they’re stored flat, rather than hanging alongside your other pieces. This is because the string can be weakened and over time damage the necklace.

Silver jewelry care

You can wear 925 sterling silver every day. It is a durable and long-lasting metal that can withstand daily wear and tear. However, it is important to take care of your silver jewelry by storing it properly and avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals or environments.

  1. Avoid contact with moisture
  2. Wear them often
  3. Avoid contact with chemicals
  4. Avoid keeping them together with other jewelry

What is 925 sterling silver? Sterling silver is an alloy made up of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals.

Like gold, silver is rarely used completely pure, at least in jewelry, because it is a metal too soft that twists too easily.
